Frequently Asked Questions
Can I charge it?
Yes, we accept credit cards and we also accept PayPal
When can you start?
It depends on my schedule and what you want done. I will be honest! I do not start one job, then start another job before the other one is finished. That is one of the major complaints that customers have about OTHER contractors. When I start a job, I finish it first. Then I start another job.
If you think about the weather, there is a good deal of planning that goes into many projects. If you can wait until late fall to do inside work, you will be rewarded with better pricing.
If everyone waits until they get a tax refund in April to do work...I can't get to you all at the same time. If there is a project that you know you want to do, call me ahead of time and I can work with you to get it done--before your tax return comes in.
Do you have insurance?
Yes. I am happy to show you my coverage/policy at any time.
Do I pay you hourly or by the job?
I have done jobs both ways. Some people have a bunch of projects that they want done. They understand that as you start one aspect of the project, you never know what it will lead to... They give me an overview of what they want done and I give them an idea of how long it's going to take. As you can imagine, especially when there are more than one person to please (a husband and wife, for instance), that the lines "do you think you can add this?" or "how about changing this" or "what if we were to do this next"? This happens all of the time. When someone is paying by the hour, it's not a problem. The answer is "of course we can."
I got a quote on windows, can you install them?
I buy my windows from the same places, but I am the one doing the work. I can install windows for much, much less than the big box stores. You'll be amazed.
Landscaping?
Love it. I have built more stone terraces, patios, gardens, and fences than I can even remember. I even dug and built a multi-acre pond for one person! It's incredible.
How Far will you travel?
I like doing work in eastern Massachusetts as I have good friends there. I travel often 1 1/2 hours towards Albany, south to Long Island, NYC (all of NYC), and into Northern NJ and Northern PA.
Do you do period work?
I have rebuilt many antique barns and built from scratch antique-looking barns using old wood from classic barns.
